1. We assert the right of all older woman to live free of fear and all forms of abuse.
2. We acknowledge the right of all older woman to expect validation, empathy and safety when disclosing abuse.
3. We acknowledge the unique position of Older Women's Network to be a leader in this field.
4. We acknowledge that Older Women's Network members must be vigilant in maintaining the above positions, both internally and externally, and presenting them to various levels of government.
5. We acknowledge the research project, the Study of Shelter Needs of Abused Older Women, to be completed in April 1998 by Older Women's Network as the foundation and measure of commitment to this issue.
6. We acknowledge the need for the Older Women's Network to be a leader in educating the general public in accepting and acknowledging the responsibility of society to recognise the seriousness of this issue.
