Objectives

  • To initiate and support public discussion on issues relating to security and justice for midlife and older women, and to research appropriate policies and legislation at all levels of government in order to address these issues.
  • To work independently and in partnership with like-minded organizations in the women's movement, and in seniors' organizations, and to ally ourselves with movements for social justice in Canada and abroad.
  • To support women's greater representation by women on decision-making bodies including all levels of government.
  • To increase our understanding of the history and position of women in our society through research, discussion, reading and exchange of experiences.
  • To challenge negative stereotypes and to support a positive portrayal of older women.
  • To support the rights of younger women, including the right to reproductive choice.
  • To support the needs and rights of children.
  • To enrich our members' lives by providing social and educational activities.
  • To celebrate the accomplishments of older women.
