OWN's Health and Environmental Issues Committee meets on the third Thursday of every month (except December and July) at 10 AM at the OWN Co-op. For more information please contact us.

Our Committee tries to keep up to date on developments in the fields of women's health, our public health care system, and the effects of environmental degradation on our health. We are working collaboratively with other community organizations (such as Care Watch Toronto, the Ontario Health Council, Canadian Pensioners Concerned, Concerned Friends of Ontario Citizens in Care Facilities) and with the Opposition Health Critics, to conduct public meetings about the new Long Term Care Act.

We have been conducting a series of public forums under the general title of "Taking Charge of Our Own Health"  Subjects so far have included:

  • How to Talk to Your Doctor
  • The Cause and Prevention of Falls
  • Food Safety
  • How to Choose among Complementary/ Alternative and Traditional Therapies
  • Women's Cardiovascular Health
